Car Kit

The following is a list of basic supplies that should be in the car at all times..

            Jumper Cables
            Highway safety flares, light sticks, or reflective safety markers
            Flashlight (either with good batteries, or one of the ones that don't use batteries.
            Car charger for your mobile phone, etc.
            Compass
            Road maps
            Flat-fixer
            Fire extinguisher: small canister ABC type
Plastic bags (good for many things, including having to carry water for the radiator)
Shovel (the folding ones are great)
Spare tire (make sure it is inflated)
            Tool kit
                     Knife
Adjustable Cresent Wrench
Vice-Grip pliers (or some other locking pliers)
Flat-blade screwdriver
Phillips screwdriver
Auto jack
Lug wrench
Tire pressure gauge
Duct tape
Replacement electrical fuses (check owner's manual for sizes)
Gloves
Reflective safety vest
Paper towels & waterless cleaner
            First Aid kit
Adhesive bandages
Antiseptic cream (not aerosol)
Latex gloves
Mouth rescue breather
First Aid instructions
Important documents
Drivers License
Auto registration
Proof of insurance
Owners manual
Phone numbers - family, friends, auto club, mechanic, doctor
Accident report form
Pencil (or pen). Pencils are better - they don't dry up in the car.
        
For Cold Weather areas:
            Matches in a waterproof container
            Blankets or Sleeping Bags (one for each person)
            Extra clothing
            Gloves
            Snowscraper
Sack of sand or kitty litter (for traction)
